We are still a full week away from the start of preseason practice for Iowa high school wrestling, but early projections are optimistic for higher numbers at Adel-Desoto-Minburn Community Schools. The ADM Wrestling program held body composition tests for prospective athletes starting October 22 and hosted a makeup session last Monday as well. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network caught up with ADM varsity wrestling coach Chris Hatchitt Thursday evening at the Tiger Wrestling Kickoff Dinner in Adel. He shares he was pleased with the number of students who took part in the initial step. “I had 41 kids who completed the body composition test,” Hatchitt said, “Which (are) awesome numbers to see.”
Hatchitt added ADM wrestling started with 24 student-athletes practicing last November and it dwindled to 19 by the end of the season. We’ll see how many students who took the body composition test come out for wrestling when preseason practice begins Monday, November 12. The first dual of the 2018-19 season for ADM Wrestling takes place Thursday, November 29, traveling to Huxley for a triangular versus Ballard and North Polk.
