Governor Reynolds speaking a Dunkers by Matt event in Jefferson

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds made a campaign stop in Jefferson Tuesday at Dunker’s by Matt as part of her “Keep Iowa Moving” (KIM) Rally.

Following the event, Reynolds covered several areas she was proud of during the 2018 Legislative session. She touted passing state tax reform, her “Future Ready Iowa” initiative, along with continuing to invest and not cut back on K-12 public education funding. She also touched on the bipartisan congressional support for comprehensive mental health care reform.

“It’s really going to make a difference to help treat people at home, get them out of the emergency room, get them out of hospitals, get them stabilized and back home with their family where they need to be.”

If Reynolds is elected as governor, her top priorities going into the 2019 Legislative session will be to fund the “Future Ready Iowa” initiative; continuing to work her “Empower Rural Iowa” initiative for rural housing, expanding internet access and growing rural Iowa leaders; and establishing a child mental health system.

“It’s really important that we do that. And hopefully part of my initiative, if I’m lucky enough to be elected (as governor), will be to put in place a children’s mental health system so we can take care of our young kids.”

Reynolds is running against Democrat Fred Hubbell and Libertarian Jake Porter in the gubernatorial race. Election Day is November 6th.
