Adair Fire and Rescue is nearing the completion of their new fire station project, but not without your help.
The former Adair Fire Station was torn down last June and a new structure has been erected in its place, which will have more space for the department’s equipment. The total project costs an estimated $850,000, which so far they have spent $575,000. Adair Community Fire Board President Steve Bireline shares how the building has been funded so far, “To start this project we had a family from the community that donated a large amount of money years ago and then we decided, ‘Alright, that’ll be the start of the building.’ And then we have a committee in Adair called the Adair (Community) Foundation and here about three months ago they are willing to donate $50,000 if the community could match the $50,000. So that got us excited and really started pushing trying to raise $50,000.”
The department recently received pledges of $25,000 from both Schafer Systems and Agri Grain Corp. Adair Fire is hoping to get the $50,000 raised from the community by the end of 2018 to get the $150,000 contributed toward the project’s completion next year. Monetary donations can be made at Rolling Hills Bank and Exchange State Bank in Adair, or sent to Bireline at 3326 Frontier Road, Adair, IA 50002. Donations of grain are also accepted at Landus Cooperative in Adair.
