A senior multisport athlete at West Central Valley Community Schools will continue competing in one of his sports next year at the collegiate level. Cole Arnburg announced last Friday on the social media platform Twitter that he’s verbally committed to the Grand View University baseball team. Arnburg’s recent high school baseball season saw him earn first-team all-conference honors from the coaches of the West Central Activities Conference. His .545 batting average was the best in the conference for any player who had 10 or more plate appearances, recording 54 hits in 99 at-bats. He ranked third in the league in stolen bases, successfully taking 23 bags in 23 attempts. Arnburg also was West Central Valley’s top pitcher, throwing a team-high 51 innings. He posted a 1.37 earned run average and allowed an opponent batting average of .194. Arnburg’s older sister, Bailee Arnburg, is a senior guard on this winters Grand View Lady Vikings women’s basketball team. The Grand View University baseball team finishes the 2018 spring season with a 28-22 record overall, posting an 18-12 mark in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
