The 2018 General Election is just a week away, so we wanted to introduce you to one last pair of candidates for a contested race: Dallas County Attorney candidates Wayne Reisetter and Chuck Sinnard.

Reisetter is the Democratic incumbent for the office, and has served as County Attorney for the last 20 years. Prior to that, he served eight years as an Assistant County Attorney, which followed careers as a police officer and Colonel in the U.S. military. Reisetter says voters should choose him because he’s equipped to continue overseeing operations in the Attorney’s Office. “I have that depth of experience and expertise. Not only have I come up through the ranks, so to speak, as a prosecutor and police officer, but I’ve also had military background. And so I bring all of that experience in leadership, as well as the training in leadership together with the experience and growth I’ve experienced in the County Attorney’s position.”

Sinnard is the Republican challenger, and has been an Assistant County Attorney in Dallas County for the last 18 years. He joined the office right out of Drake Law School, and says he’s prosecuted all manner of crimes in that time. Sinnard feels voters should select him because he’s prepared to handle the repercussions of the County’s growth, as well as the transition to a digital age. “In the last couple of years, the number of cases that have gone to trial have more than doubled. There’s another big growth spurt coming. While we’ve had a good run here, I want to make sure that we keep pace with that. And I’m in the position to steward this office through the next decade or so of that change, and I want to be in that position to help bring that about.”
