Saturday marked the fifth straight season the Panorama Panther girls cross country team ended the year competing for a state championship. The Panthers, a regular participant in the Class 1A race since 2006, were first-time qualifiers for the Class 2A meet at Fort Dodge’s Lakeside Municipal Golf Course. Panorama and Cascade both finished the meet with 180 points scored. Cascade won the tiebreaker with a lower sixth-place runner, helping the Cougars finish in sixth place in the overall team standings and bumping Panorama to seventh place. Sophomore Ella Waddle claimed a spot on the Class 2A All-State team with a fourth-place individual performance at 19:31. Sophomore Oliva Steffen was Panorama’s only other top 30 finisher, placing 29th at 21:15. Other finishers for Panorama include sophomore Gwen Steffen 33rd, freshman Payton Beckman 46th, senior Brooklyn Behrends 68th, and senior Jaelyn Waddle 92nd. This is the fifth straight top 10 state finish for the Panorama girls cross country team.
