Several recent high school basketball standouts in central and western Iowa have come together to make up this year’s Grand View University Lady Vikings roster. Among the women playing for Grand View who graduated from the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area include Stuart native Bailee Arnburg, Panora resident Jessi Campbell, Adel local Sydney Bertman, and Van Meter alum Mackenzie Roberts. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network recently taped an interview with Arnburg ahead of her senior season with the Lady Vikings women’s basketball team. She remembers playing high school basketball against some of her current teammates. “In high school, I played against Jessi (Campbell), Mackenzie Roberts, and Mia Rosener (Des Moines Christian),” Arnburg said, “So, now that we are teammates its a little different. After high school, you forget about everything that happened then, and you’re on a team now. You come together as a team, you work hard, you play together, and I don’t think it was a hard adjustment for anyone.”

The Lady Vikings win/loss record last year suggests the former high school opponents are gelling nicely as a unit. Grand View posted a 23-11 overall record in 2017-18, making the NAIA Division I Basketball tournament for the first time in program history. Arnburg saw the most playing time of the Raccoon Valley Radio graduates, starting all 34 games as a guard.
