The Dallas County Courthouse is about to undergo several high-profile changes, though one project that’s a little under the radar involves the building’s roof.
The County typically has a company come in and assess the roof of the historic courthouse every few years, and it was recently inspected by Renaissance Roofing. The inspection revealed that the roof is currently in fairly good condition, though there were a few loose and broken tiles and other repairs that will be needed. A proposal from Renaissance was presented to the Board of Supervisors at a recent meeting, totalling just over $82,000, which would take care of all the repairs needed for the roof.
Additionally, the contractor was willing to credit the County with the $1,500 cost of the inspection if the Board approved the proposal before the end of November. The Supervisors didn’t need all that time, though, as they accepted the bid from Renaissance Roofing for the total price of $81,033 after the credit. The work is expected to begin some time before next spring, depending on weather.
