A new record was set at this year’s Stuart Library Foundation Auction Fundraiser.

A gooseberry pie baked by Hope Wilhelm sold for $1,100 at the annual live auction held at the Stuart Public Library last week. For it’s seventh year, the foundation hosted the event to raise funds for books and other amenities for the library. This year they added a silent auction which took place the week leading up to the live event.

Library Director Lisa Sherman reflects on the fundraiser, “It was a success. As Bob Cook said to me, ‘Lisa, it was a solid, successful, event.’ So we’re happy with that.”

Final numbers won’t be tabulated until November, but Sherman believes this year’s event is in close proximity to last year’s, which raised almost $7,500. Those still wishing to donate to the Stuart Library Foundation can contact Sherman at 515-523-2152.
