The freshman, sophomore, and junior players of the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers football program will be under the lights at ADM Stadium this evening trying to start next season off on the right foot. ADM is hosting a tenth contest for the nongraduating members of the Tigers football program, playing host to the Lynx of Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln. ADM head football coach Garrison Carter tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Iowa High School Athletic Association allows nonplayoff teams to continue running football practice and nonvarsity games through the state championship game. “Not a lot of people take advantage of that,” Carter said, “I think it’s something program development-wise that makes a lot of sense, so we’re going to go ahead and do that.”
The head coach of the Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln squad is Carter’s former college roommate and agreed to play a pair of nonvarsity games with the Tigers in Adel. The cost of the doubleheader is $4 for adults and $3 for students. The freshmen teams will kick off their game around 4:15 p.m. and the junior varsity contest takes place at 7 p.m. from ADM Stadium in Adel.
