With the several Halloween-themed activities happening this evening in Jefferson, motorists are reminded to keep kids and families safe as they are traveling on the roadways.
Kids will be going from the Greene County Community Center to the downtown square for “Treat-or-Trick Around the Square” from 5 to 6pm. They will also head to the library for more activities from 5 to 7pm. Police Chief Mark Clouse says motorists need to be aware of their surroundings and be watchful for lots of people crossing the road.
“So obviously as a motorist, we want to be aware, consciously aware that they are out trick-or-treating. There’s going to be a lot of kids out crossing the street and we all do our best to teach our kids safety when crossing streets and those (kinds of things). But we just need an extra eye out. Allow yourself a little extra time, be vigilant, patient, and aware of what’s happening in front of your vehicle.”
There is also a “Spooktacular” concert at the middle school gym from 7 to 8pm. A reminder that the designated date and time for Jefferson’s citywide Beggars’ Night is on Halloween night from 5:30 to 7:30pm. To hear more safety tips from Clouse ahead of Jefferson’s Beggars’ Night, listen to next Monday’s Community State Bank in Paton Let’s Talk Greene County program.
