The jury trial against a Jefferson man, who is accused of sexually abusing his sister, has been delayed.
Assistant Greene County Attorney Thomas Laehn confirms to Raccoon Valley Radio that a motion was granted to continue 20-year-old Noah Exline’s trial from the scheduled October 30th date to December at the earliest. Court documents show that Exline’s defense attorney made the motion Friday and District Court Judge William Ostlund granted the motion on Monday.
Exline faces seven Class B Felonies for second degree sexual abuse. Exline is accused of sexually abusing his sister, Paige Exline, seven times in a three year period, from ages 9 to 12.
Paige was one of the two victims that died in a Guthrie Center house fire in May of 2017. The fire was set by Noah’s step-brother Patrick Thompson, who was found guilty of murdering Paige and her cousin Shakiah Cockerham, by a Monroe County jury on October 8th. Noah’s father, James Exline, is serving 75-years in prison for sexually abusing Paige before her death. Court documents also show that James is trying to appeal his case.
Court documents show that a pre-guilty, pre-sentence investigation report will be conducted by the Department of Corrections to aid in the plea negotiations for Exline.
