New information has been released regarding the fire that occurred at The Port restaurant at Lake Panorama Sunday.

According to the Panora Fire Department the fire started outside of the building in the dumpster area and then spread to the roof. The restaurant was closed that evening and a restaurant employee had spotted the fire and called for emergency crews. The specific cause of the fire has not been determined. The Panora and Guthrie Center fire departments responded to the incident at about 4:30 p.m. to extinguish the flames. The fire was contained to the kitchen area, with smoke and water damage to the structure. No one was injured. Panora EMS, Panora Police Department, Lake Panorama Security, and the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.

The Port management states the restaurant will be closed for an undetermined amount of time, and the hotel remains open. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
