The annual Greene County 4-H Awards Day marks the end of the 4-H year and the event is happening this weekend.
Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Kayla Willms says the annual event will take place at the Grand Junction Community Center this Sunday. It begins with activities and games for the 4-H’ers at 3:30pm, followed by a meal served by the Youth Development Committee at 5pm. The program will begin at 6. Willms points out the Youth Development Committee also helps with judging the 4-H record books, which are what most of the awards are based off of.
“We really appreciate their support. Also we really appreciate all of the individuals that came in to look at record books. We have over 20 volunteers throughout the community that come in and take a look at these books, and give the kids feedback. We’re really thankful for them to come in and do that for us. It makes for an exciting time. We encourage them to come as well so they can see how it all turned out.”
Willms adds that they will also give community and adult volunteer awards that evening. Plus, they will award years of volunteer service to the 4-H program. Call the Extension office at 386-2138 to sign up for the event.
