The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
During open forum, Assistant County Attorney Thomas Laehn updated the Board on the continued negotiation with the Greene County School District of the 28E agreement for the career academy. He said one part that still needs to be finalized was how the county would be reimbursed for the building of the career academy, if the facility ceased to be used as a career academy. The school district determined that they would like a finalized agreement by November 1st.
Also during the open fourm, County Engineer Wade Weiss told the Board that the E-18 bridge project has been slowed down by weather complications. He said the project is about 22-percent completed with about 51 working days left. He noted that the pavement approaches would need to be finished next spring.
Bell Tower Community Foundation President Carole Custer then presented the Board with a “dedication of bells” certificate in honor of the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower celebrating its 52nd anniversary Tuesday. The Board then approved an open records policy; the County Treasurer’s investment report for September of $5,179,842, issuing 298 driver’s licenses last month, and hiring Jeb Ball as a part-time drive examiner for $19.81 per hour; amending a contract with the Iowa Department of Public Health to allow the Grand Junction Rescue Unit to utilize leftover grant funds to purchase a Lucas Device; and a letter of support for a grant application for radon test kits through the Iowa Cancer Consortium program. Additionally, the Board approved a joint city and county agreement for the Greene County Beaver Creek Wind Farm Urban Renewal Area as presented and they approved Kingston Life as the record of agent for insurance renewal.
