Friday’s 42-21 thumping of the Winterset Huskies secured a winning season for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers football team in their first season under head coach Garrison Carter. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network had senior captains Nick Bradshaw, Andrew Flora, Nolan Harsh, and Lucas Heitz up for an interview after their last home game at ADM Stadium to discuss the turnaround of the Tiger football program after a winless 2017 campaign.

Heitz shared he immediately saw a difference in the team during their week one victory over the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays. “They were a good team, and we went in and (beat them),” Heitz said, “That’s when I realized how much everyone was really bought in. ”

For Bradshaw and Harsh, they saw a turning point during the Tigers homecoming victory over Boone. “After those first three games, I was starting to getting a little scared,” Harsh said, “I didn’t like how close those were, and we just came out (clicking). (The) defense was rolling, (the) offense wouldn’t stop putting it in the end zone. I saw on the sidelines whenever I’d get a break, and I thought we were the real deal.”

Flora shared the victory over Winterset cemented the turnaround of the program in his mind and also left him bittersweet. “I’m so happy that we won, but at the same time, I’m really pissed off,” Flora said, “Just cause (Winterset) beat (Creston & Glenwood), and we know deep down that we should be undefeated if not maybe a one-loss (team right now).”

The Tigers have the opportunity to square off against the No. 1 ranked team in Class 3A football this Friday in the Lewis Central Titans.
