fall map

Signs of fall can be seen in Guthrie County as foliage changes its color.

According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources this week vibrant colors can now be seen on most Dogwood, Sumac, and Virginia Creeper Vines in west central and southwest regions of the state. Ash and Cottonwood leaves are turning quickly, and poison ivy is nearing peak color. Oaks have not begun to show yet. The best fall color viewing time in Guthrie County is now through the third week of October.
