The Jefferson Police Department was recently recognized with a grant to purchase emergency equipment.
The police department joined four other public safety entities at a ceremony for grant funds they received through a Firehouse Subs program. The restaurant chain collects donations at their locations to give back to public safety organizations to help purchase life-saving equipment. The Jefferson Police Department received $2,790 earlier in the year and purchased two Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Police Chief Mark Clouse remarked at the ceremony, which was held at a Firehouse Subs restaurant in Ames earlier this week, that the devices have been used several times since they have been installed in two of the department’s patrol vehicles. Story City Fire Department – Extrication Equipment ($30,940)
Des Moines Fire Department – Tripod kit, one winch, two pulleys, four harnesses, helmets, helmet lights and four pair of rope gloves ($10,418)
Altoona Fire Department – A forcible entry simulator ($7,686)
Northern Warren Fire Department – Four radios and chargers ($19,310)
