The ACGC boys cross country team is hitting their stride as they head down the home stretch towards state qualification. The boys team won their second straight meet title at the WCV Invitational last Thursday.
Senior Noah Nelsen finished in 2nd to lead the gold and black, finishing with a time of 16:34.85, just three seconds behind Missouri Valley’s Jordan Hustak. Classmate Clay Billheimer finished in 7th and junior Ben Young crossed the line in 12th. Freshman Miles Kading was the other top-25 finisher for ACGC, coming in 22nd. The Chargers bested 2nd place Ogden by 20 points for the team title. Twelve total teams were scored on the boys side.
On the girls side, junior Kate Crawford finished in a distant 2nd behind Panorama’a Ella Waddle. Senior Lauryn Embleton grabbed another top ten spot, finishing in 8th. Sophomore Rylee Sloss also finished in 15th for the Chargers. ACGC finished in 3rd as a team behind Panorama and champions North Polk. Seven total teams were scored for the girls.
ACGC will continue their season this Thursday at the South Hamilton Invitational at the Jewell Golf and Country Club.
