West Central Valley Superintendent Lance Ridgely is currently in his first year as superintendent and recently experienced his first homecoming. Ridgely is overall pleased with what he saw from the student body.
He especially touted the students decorum and participation during the week’s festivities. “I was in all the buildings throughout the week during different dress up days. All the kids were participating so it was really cool to see that. The kids here at the high school did a great job throughout the week. It can be a very distracting and disruptive week at times, just with some of the unstructured time that you have, but I thought our high school kids handled it very well.”
He also commented on the district’s inaugural homecoming parade. He says it was very successful despite a couple minor setbacks. “The freshman float was forgotten back at the high school but it did get entered into the parade. So that was a great save. And we need to coach up our police car escort a little bit on the pace of the parade as it looked like he was going out to a call because there was a big gap in the middle. But all of those things I think we can massage and make better.”
Though he wishes the football game would have had a more favorable result, he feels there were plenty of positive things to take away from the 2018 homecoming week. To hear more from Ridgely, listen to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
