It’s Greene County and Paton-Churdan Homecoming Week this week.

The activities kicked off Sunday with the Paton-Churdan coronation ceremony. This year’s Homecoming King is Clayton Smith and Queen is Megan Carey. As the rest of the week unfolds, Greene County Student Council President Melanie Doran describes this year’s homecoming theme.

“This theme for this year is ‘Back in Black’ because the boys (football team) got new white-on-white and black-on-black jerseys. And we decided that they were going to wear that (black-on-black) for this week, and so it just fit with their jerseys.”

Other activities include a Glow-In-The-Dark Dodgeball Tournament following the junior varsity home football game tonight in the middle school gym. Wednesday is the jersey auction and pep rally at 7pm, also in the middle school gym. Thursday is a home varsity volleyball match with Nevada and a varsity cross-country meet at Saydel. Friday includes a high school pep rally at 1pm, followed by the parade at 2pm and the coronation ceremony will follow at the bell tower plaza of the Greene County Courthouse.

The home varsity football game is against Atlantic Friday night, which can be heard on 98.9FM KGRA, followed by the homecoming dance on Saturday night at the Jefferson Elks Lodge with a $5 admission charge. Students and area businesses are also encouraged to participate in the daily dress up days, with businesses to post their outfits on the Greene County Activities Booster Club Facebook page. Each dress up day can be found below.
