Friday’s 16-13 setback at Creston initially seemed to humble Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers first-year head football coach Garrison Carter. Carter joined the Fullers Petroulm Postgame Show and said after back-to-back midseason losses he’s rethinking his approach to this week’s practices. “This all comes from me, and I may have to do some self-reflecting,” Carter said, “We’ve spent so much time trying to reverse the 0-9 mentality and telling our kids how good they are and how awesome we are. We almost had the ‘we’re going to show up and beat a 1-4 team swagger that I’m not sure we need to be carrying quite (yet).”
Carter adds during the first four weeks the team valued every snap on both sides of the football. He says that wasn’t necessarily the case against the Panthers and took responsibility for the team not giving 100 percent effort on every play. Senior Lucas Heitz impacted the game on both sides of the ball. He recorded 83 receiving yards and caught a 43-yard touchdown pass. He also made five solo tackles and one interception defensively. Sophomore Tate Stine-Smith completed 16 of his 23 pass attempts for 120 yards and one touchdown. Stine-Smith and senior Nick Bradshaw combined to record 62 rushing yards. Bradshaw found the end zone in the on a four-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. The Tigers enter week seven of the high school football season with a 4-2 record. ADM will look for their first district win this Friday when they travel to the western border to take on the Glenwood Rams.
