Greene County will be looking to start another football winning streak this Friday when the Rams host the Atlantic Trojans at Linduska Field in Jefferson. Coach Mitch Moore’s team had its five game winning streak to start the season snapped at Carroll Athletic Field last Friday by the Kuemper Catholic Knights, 16-8.
Greene County is 5-1 overall and 1-1 in Class 2A District 9. Atlantic is 2-4 overall and 0-2 in district play after the Trojans lost their homecoming game last Friday to OA-BCIG (Ida Grove), 39-16.
Kuemper Catholic and Red Oak sit atop the District 9 standings with 2-0 records. The Rams and OABCIG are both 1-1, while Shenandoah joins Atlantic at 0-2 in district games.
The list of unbeatens in Class 2A is down to just two with losses by Greene County and Spirit Lake last week. Only PCM (Monroe) and Algona remain undefeated in the class. The latest Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) is expected to be released this afternoon by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. The RPI is used to determine playoff qualifying teams that do not win their districts.
