A man was sent to the hospital with unknown injuries Wednesday evening after wrecking his dirt bike during a chase involving Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Chief Deputy Adam Infante tells Racoon Valley Radio the incident happened at around 6:40 p.m. Dallas County Dispatch received a report of a male driving a blue dirt bike and a female driving a red four-wheeler in Minburn. A deputy responded and the individuals fled on the Raccoon River Valley Trail on the north side of the City. The suspects split up, and the deputy continued the pursuit of the dirt bike. Other Dallas County Deputies as well some from Boone County and Perry Police Officers soon assisted in the chase, which went on and off the trail as well as dirt roads north of Minburn.

The driver eventually circled back to the City, exiting the trail at the Heartland Co-Op. A Dallas County Deputy was parked at the location, and the suspect ran into the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The driver was examined on site and was taken by Dallas County Emergency Medical Services to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines with unknown injures. He was conscious and alert before leaving the scene. The pursuit lasted around 16 minutes, and speeds reached around 65 miles-per-hour.

Charges are pending for the driver, though his name and condition are not being released at this time. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the case. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
