A Fort Dodge man was recently sentenced to jail time and agreed to probation for a drug charge in Greene County.
According to court documents, 38-year-old Priest Delray Wilson pled guilty to an amended charge of a serious misdemeanor of possession of marijuana. As per his plea agreement, Wilson had all but two days of his 30 day jail sentence suspended and will also be placed on unsupervised probation with the Greene County Sheriff’s office for one year.
The sentence stems from a traffic stop on April 23rd. A Jefferson Police Officer stopped Wilson’s vehicle for a taillight that was out. The officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During the officer’s probable cause search, he found marijuana in Wilson’s coat pocket, which Wilson admitted belonged to him.
Wilson was also ordered to pay over $700 in surcharges, court-appointed attorney fees and court costs. Wilson was originally charged with a felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of marijuana, but court documents show that the charge was amended to the serious misdemeanor.
