IMG_3746The West Central Valley School Board met in regular session Wednesday.

The Board elected Harry Light and Jill Caltrider as Board President and Vice President respectively. Jen Clemetson was selected as the delegate for the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) Annual Convention in November and the Board also appointed members for the various county conference boards, including: Clemetson to the Dallas County Conference Board, Caltrider to the Adair County Conference Board, and Nyle Godwin to the Guthrie County Conference Board.

Superintendent Lance Ridgely then brought up a moisture concern in the lower level of the Stuart Elementary building. Ridgley said that they are working on dehumidifying solutions to remove the moisture. An air quality test was also recently completed throughout the building, though results have not been completed yet.

The Board then rescinded a previously approved motion on equipment breakdown insurance due to lack of a contract with their provider. The District is working on a plan to reinstate that coverage, though a timeline was not given during the meeting. Other approved action items included a trip request each for the marching band and FFA and annual allowable growth for the special education deficit at $311,000.

They also discussed strategic planning through IASB and property line fencing at the high school. No formal action was taken on either topic. The meeting concluded with the Superintendent’s Report and Action Plan for the current school year.
