The 2017 Dig for a Cure event

At the next Perry High School varsity volleyball game, attendees are advised to deck themselves out in a color other than blue. That’s because it’s the annual “Dig for a Cure” Night, and the players, coaches, and fans will all be wearing pink to support the American Cancer Society.

The game will be against Carroll, who has also been asked to wear pink, and there will be an assortment of fundraisers conducted before and during the event. First, the Perry School District faculty and staff will be able to pay $5 to participate in “Jeans Day” on Tuesday. There will also be pink shirts for sale at the game, as well as donation buckets passed around throughout the night. All the proceeds will go towards Relay for Life of Dallas County, which raises money for cancer research through the American Cancer Society.

The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., and there will be a short ceremony involving the Perry volleyball players and people they know who have been affected by cancer. For more information, contact Perry High School at 515-465-3503.
