A Perry High School senior spent part of this past summer participating in the Boys State program, and he recently paid a visit to the Perry American Legion Post 85 to recount his experience.

Luke Holtorf was selected by the Perry post to represent them, the school, and the City at the week long event held at Camp Dodge in Johnston. He gave the Legion a presentation about his experiences, which included studies in local, county, and state government, among many other things. The camp even held elections among the attendees, and Holtorf was proud to say he was chosen to be Mayor.

He would add, the young men from all around the State were kept busy for most of their waking hours with a wide assortment of activities and various sporting events. Holtorf is the latest in a line of Perry students chosen for Boys State, all of whom are selected by the American Legion Post 85 with the assistance and counsel of Perry High School.
