On Saturday football enthusiasts and West Central Valley benefactors gathered at the high school football stadium in Stuart for the inaugural Jeff Pease Flag Football Classic. Eight teams and dozens of spectators joined in on helping raise scholarship funds for WCV students.

Event Chair Tom Stiles tells Raccoon Valley Radio their initial goal was $5,000. While they are still collecting donations, the fundraiser has exceeded expectations with a total surpassing $7,000. Stiles says they intend to continue the tournament as an annual event and the funds will officially be contributed to the “Jeff Pease Memorial Scholarship.” Team Kinzie Service was the winning team.
