Halfway through the summer, the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity football team hadn’t identified a player as their starting placekicker. ADM head football coach Garrison Carter shared with Raccoon Valley Radio Friday night that junior Bryce Holm was willing to try out for the position. “We were looking around and (asked) ‘can anybody kick’,” Carter said, “Bryce was like ‘well, I’ll try it.’ To his credit, he’s tried it pretty well and the ice water in his veins in phenomenal.”
Holm’s 25-yard field goal with 18 seconds remaining Friday night helped ADM edge the Perry Bluejays, 13-10, in their home opener. He is three for three in field goal attempts so far this season after ADM didn’t attempt one last fall. The Tigers accounted for 423 yards of total offense in the victory. Senior Nick Bradshaw scored ADM’s only touchdown on a three-yard run in the fourth quarter. Sophomore running back Justice Paulsen ran for 236 yards on 25 carries to pace the offense. ADM is 2-0 for the first time since 2015 and will resume their season Friday on the road against the Grinnell Tigers.
