new opportunitiesNew Opportunities of Greene County is starting to up ramp up their busy part of the year.

Coordinator Teresa Lansman says they recently completed the Back-to-School Supply Drive, during which they helped 175 Greene County children. Lansman points out an added benefit to this year’s donation event.

“It was wonderful this year because the BOOST (Bringing Optimism and Opportunity to Students and Teachers) had helped out the teachers in the schools with the Kleenex and the Lysol wipes. And so that was taken off of the list so we could concentrate on getting the school supplies for the children.”

Lansman adds that they were also able to give each of the 175 children, kindergarten through 12th grade, a backpack for the school year. Another activity New Opportunities does is Operation Warm Hearts, where less fortunate children receive winter coats. Lansman notes that last year they served 150 children and registrations for this year ends tomorrow. Contact Lansman at 386-2719.
