While there is plenty of excitement today at the Guthrie County Fair, including the parade featuring Governor Kim Reynolds, there are an assortment of activities and events tomorrow and Monday.
Tomorrow is Old Settlers Day at the fair, which means everyone 70 and older gets a free trip through the gates. The FFA Cattle Show kicks things off at 10am in the east beef barn and show ring. Following that will be the announcement of the annual JR Hodges Award and the always highly anticipated 4-H Foundation Pie Auction. Afternoon activities include the Antique Tractor Pull at 3pm and the Monster Arm Wrestling competition at 5. Evening activities will feature rabbit hopping at 7pm and the Teen Town Dance at 8:30. There will also be free Figure 8 races at the Grandstand at 7.
Labor Day morning starts bright and early with the Zach Meacham Memorial Chicken Calling and Throwing Contest in the show ring at 8am. The Parade of Champions will begin at 9am, followed by the 4H and FFA Premium Auction. All exhibits will be released beginning at 1pm and the fair comes to a close at 3.
Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will be at the fair today and tomorrow from 10am-6pm and Monday from 10am-3pm. We’ll be broadcasting live, playing music, and making local announcements.
