The Perry Parks and Recreation Department is getting ready to once again host their annual Youth Volleyball Camp, and girls in the area are encouraged to sign up now.
Assistant Parks and Rec Director Becky Halling says the camp will teach fundamentals, skills, and strategies for volleyball, while also encouraging good teamwork and sportsmanship. It’s open for girls in grades 1st through 6th, and Halling is excited to once again partner with Perry High School for the program. “This is going to be put on by the high school Varsity Volleyball Team. So (I’m) again thankful for them that they’ve been able to give me a couple days during their schedule in their busy time to put on this camp for us! And those are the kids that you look up to. So you see them in the hallways or see them in a store like, ‘Hey mom, there’s my volleyball coach!’ Or, ‘Hey mom, I’m going to go see her play her Varsity Volleyball game!’ I think the older girls have learned to love that as well.”
The camp will be held in the gym at the McCreary Community Building, and will run Mondays from 6-7 p.m. starting September 10th and going through October 1st. Registration is due by Friday, September 7th by 8 p.m., and the cost for the camp is $15 for members and $30 for non-members. For more information or to register, stop in or call the McCreary Center at 515-465-5621.
