Two Guthrie County high schools will honor our nations military veterans at their home football games tonight. In Stuart, the West Central Valley Wildcats are hosting Patriot Night against the Earlham Cardinals. Wildcat head football coach Eric Addy promoted the team’s home opener on Monday’s Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page. “It’s Patriot Night for us, so we’ll be wearing our camo jerseys,” Addy said, “We’ll be honor veterans, it’s going to be our home opener, so it’s going to be an awesome atmosphere for us. If that doesn’t get you fired up, I don’t know what will.”
The West Central Valley football team opened the new season last Friday with a 42-16 loss at the hands of the Des Moines Christian Lions. In Panora, the Panorama Panthers football team is including other entities in their Salute to Service Night at Panorama Stadium against the Manson-Northwest Webster Cougars. Panther head coach Mike Kauzlarich stopped by the Wahl McAtee Tire & Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page Monday evening to discuss who all is welcome for tonight’s activities. “EMT’s, firefighters, police officers, state patrol, and obviously military personnel will all be admitted into the game for free wearing their uniform,” Kauzlarich said, “We want to take that time to honor all of the heroes in our communities.”
Panorama secured their fourth straight season-opening victory last Friday in Fort Dodge against the St. Edmond Gales, 41-14. Varsity kickoff in Stuart and Panora is set for 7 p.m.
