The ACGC volleyball team took their 2-0 record into the gym at Cumberland-Anita-Messina Tuesday. While they weren’t able to keep their record undefeated, they did secure another program-first victory. The Chargers finished the quadrangular with a 2-1 record and a program-first win over the Atlantic Trojans.
The Chargers swept the Trojans 2-0 by a score of 21-5 and 21-18. Freshman Chloe Largent once again led the gold and black with eight kills and four aces. Junior Olivia Laabs led the team in digs with six and senior Jadeyn Carrick had the most blocks with three. ACGC controlled the service line against the Trojans with a 95% serve efficiency.
The other win for ACGC came over East Union in their first ever meeting with the Eagles. The Chargers dropped the first set 21-23 before winning the last two 21-18 and 15-13. Largent and Carrick combined for 19 of the team’s 26 kills and Laabs and Genevieve Hoover each had ten digs for the gold and black.
The one loss came against the host Cougars. The Chargers won the first set 21-19, but couldn’t hold on as CAM took the next two 22-20 and 15-12. The Chargers are now 4-1 (2-0). The team will have the weekend off before hosting their next two matches in a triangular on Tuesday between Audubon and Woodward-Granger. First serve for the triangular is set for around 5pm from Guthrie Center.
