The first competition of the season saw the Panorama Girls Cross Country team take home hardware for the high school’s trophy case. The Panther cross country teams opened the 2018 campaign competing in the Gilbert Cross Country Invitational at the Iowa State University Cross Country Course in Ames. Panorama’s girls cross country team took home top honors in the Class B grouping with 46 points. All seven Panorama girls scoring runners placed in the top 28 overall with two top-four finishes. Sophomore Ella Waddle placed in a distant second in the individual race standings with a time of 21:02. AC/GC junior Kate Crawford won the individual meet championship with a time of 20:38. Sophomore Gwen Steffen placed four at 22:27. The Panorama Panther boys cross country team finished 11th out of 13 teams with 278 points. Senior Levi Richey was Panorama’s top finisher in the boys’ race, placing 34th overall with a time of 20:34. The Panorama Cross Country teams resume their competition season next Thursday in the West Central Valley Cross Country Invitational.
