Mudd Foot Riverbillies

The 9th annual Mudd Foot Riverbillies Carp fishing tournament returns to Perry tomorrow, and people are invited to a day filled with fishing and classic cars.

In addition to the yearly tournament, the group is also hosting the “Show and Shine” car show at Pattee Park. The day will begin at 6:30 a.m. with registration for the carp tournament. Participants can then fish on the Raccoon River between highways 30 and 6 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The car show will then run from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and feature cars, trucks, and motorcycles of all kinds. There will also be raffle drawings, with prizes including a boat donated by Midwest Basement Systems, and more. Additionally, there will be a bake sale and door prizes.

Cost to compete in the carp fishing tournament is $25 for adults and $5 for kids 15 and under. Weigh-ins will be from noon-5 p.m. at Pattee Park. A fishing license is required to participate. All fish caught will be donated to the Saving Our Avian Resources organization. The cost is $10 to take part in the car show, and prizes made by Jim VonBehren will be awarded for the best of each class, as well as one for kids choice. Raffle tickets cost $20 each, or $100 for six. Half the proceeds from the fishing tournament will go to the winners, with the other half and all proceeds from the car show and raffle going to local families with children who are battling cystic fibrosis.
