A former Yale and Bayard City Clerk who allegedly misappropriated funds during her tenure has been formally charged with five felonies.
The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office has issued Renee Van Gundy five felony charges as a result of an investigation stemming from improper or unsupported disbursements while employed, from January, 2008- January, 2016. The charges include: two counts of first degree theft, Class C felonies; two counts of unauthorized usage of a credit card between $1000-10,000, Class D Felonies; and one count of forgery, a Class D felony.
According to a March report from State Auditor Mary Mosiman, the amount of misappropriated funds totaled just over $60,000 between the two communities. The report indicates the funds went towards largely personal purchases at various vendors and personal utility bills.
Van Gundy, who now resides in Ohio, is scheduled to appear for her arraignment in District Court on Tuesday, September 4th. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
