Greene County ExtensionThose that have produce from gardens and are looking for ways to save those items to use later on this year, can learn about those methods by joining a special class with Greene County ISU Extension.

The “Food Preservation 101” class will be led by Extension Nutrition Specialist and Registered Dietitian Ann Heuer.

“So we’re going to talk about ways that you can preserve it like canning it, freezing it, dehydrating it, however they’re best going to use it, and a safe way to do all of that. Because there are safety things that you want to consider when you are canning or preserving your food. They’ll also get to taste some different preserved foods. I’m going to have probably some jam or salsa for them to try.”

The class will be held on Tuesday, August 28th from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Extension office in Jefferson. Cost to participate is $10. To register, click the link below.
