For a third consecutive year, the Churdan Public Library has received a grant from the Monsanto Fund toward their building expansion project.
Local farmer Dennis Tilley selected the library to receive a $2,500 grant as part of Monsanto’s America’s Farmers Grow Communities program. The grant funds will be used to purchase items for the library once the space is done being renovated. Earlier this year, the library broke ground on another 1,100-square-feet to their current building, which was originally built in 1961. The project is expected to be completed by December and the library has temporarily been moved to 604 Hill Street.
Each year, farmers enter for a chance to direct a $2,500 donation to a non-profit organization they care about in their community. Since 2010, America’s Farmers Grow Communities has given more than $29 million to farming communities.
