A local non-profit is hosting an annual fundraiser this weekend. Tori’s Angels will be hosting their 9th Annual Breakfast Benefit on Sunday at the Panora Community Center from 8am-1pm.
The meal includes bacon, eggs, pancakes, and beverages for a free-will donation. There will also be a silent auction until 12:30pm. Auction items include: gift cards and certificates from local restaurants, a one-night stay in the Amana Colonies, gift baskets, passes to the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroads, and a handmade cancer quilt.
Foundation Chair Bill Ridgley talks about another special item on the auction list. “We have a multi-night cruise on the Mississippi River. You’ll be staying overnight, you’ll be cruising up and down the Mississippi. It should be a wonderful event. There’s also included in that cruise tickets to the National Riverboat Museum. And there’ll be a time when the captain sits with you and explains everything about the riverboats and his 35 years experience on the river.”
The fundraiser originally began as a way to support namesake child, Tori Heckman’s life-saving heart surgery. The organization helps fund treatment for six current or former Guthrie County children who are battling life threatening illnesses.
