The Perry City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.
During reports, City Administrator Sven Peterson updated the progress of several of the City’s projects, and discussed a memo he passed out to the Council regarding the City’s codification process, which should be done by January of 2019. In new business, the Council approved pay request number two for $3,322.25 to Harland Concrete for work done on the Park Street widening projects and release of retainage. Peterson mentioned the County is working on one last portion of their side of the project, and once that’s done it can officially be considered finished.
Next, the Council approved two items related to the Willis Avenue Bridge project. The first was a change order for $5,588 from Elder Corporation, which covers a temporary stream diversion needed during heavy June rains. City Engineer Matt Farrier pointed out that the Department of Transportation is covering around 80% of the total cost of the stream diversion. The second was the fifth pay request from Elder for $147,368.50. In new business, the Council approved an agreement between the City and the Iowa State University Institute for Design Research and Outreach. Per the agreement, ISU students will be working along with City staff on a master plan for the Parks and Recreation Department.
