The Iowa State Fair may have come and gone, but there’s still one more area fair to close out the summer. The Guthrie County Fair begins a week from Thursday and there are several opportunities to support the county 4-H chapters. In addition to visiting the various exhibits and checking out the livestock showcases, there are several auctions with proceeds benefiting the clubs.
Proceeds from the silent auction go directly to reduce the cost of 4-H enrollment fees. Funds raised through the annual pie auction go to scholarships and various other projects such as food stand expansions and club citizenship projects. Money raised from the food stand goes towards workshops, awards for Awards Day, and the 4-H/Clover Kids programs. Finally, the Premium Auction benefits all youth exhibits and the Bucket of Junk auction goes towards general programs.
The Guthrie County Fair is Thursday, August 30th-Sunday, September 2nd.
