Greene County hosted North Polk (Alleman) on Friday night at Linduska Field in the annual Sports Drink Football Scrimmage. Head Coach Mitch Moore talked with Raccoon Valley Radio following the event and was generally pleased. “First and foremost, thanks to North Polk for coming over and scrimmaging us. It was a good night for both programs. I’m really proud of our kids’ energy. There was no question which team had the most energy and our kids played with a relentless effort all night long. Defensively, I think we showed we can be a pretty good defensive football team. Offensively, we’ve got to get more in rhythm, and that’s what scrimmages are for.”

The coach talked about some of the individual Rams. “Brent Riley made some good throws and did some good things for us. Colby Kafer ran the ball well, and Lance Hughes can be a difference maker. He’s as good a receiver as there is on this level, so I saw some glimpses offensively. Defensively, oh, boy! I was really, really pleased with their effort and 11 guys running to the football, so that was good to see.”

Next up is the season opener on Friday night at Dewey Field in Perry when Greene County faces the Perry Blue Jays at 7:30 p.m. Coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
