In one of the more prominent events, Adel-DeSoto-Minburn student Dylan Barker took home the award for Market Best of Show in the FFA Rabbit Show last Thursday. Additionally, Barker was named champion in the meat pen, meat rabbit, and fryer competitions, and reserve champion for roaster pen and roaster. In creative arts, Kathy Lewis of Adel won first place for several entries in the China and porcelain painting competitions, including: professional floral design; professional box; Christmas decoration or other holiday; egg; tray; and vase, pitcher, or bowl. Lewis also took home one second place award and three third place honors.

In the fabric and threads category, Dallas County had two winners. Joey Shaw of Perry won first in the doll garment class of the crochet contest, and Martha Klatt of Adel got first in the combination – Appliqué Small Quilt in the quilting contest. Klatt also received a second place and honorable mention in the quilting categories. Finally, Connie D. Cooper of Adel placed first for three of her Heritage Contest entries, including: plate – animal or birds in China; tablecloth, lace in dry goods; and open salts in small glass item collections.
