With the summer coming to an end, the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District invites students and parents to back-to-school events, the first of which is happening this evening.

The open house for ADM High School is tonight from 5-6:30 p.m. Parents and students will need to report to their advisory classroom to meet their advisor, pick up their Chromebook, and receive their first semester schedule. Students can then walk their schedules, meet teachers, and find their lockers. The next open houses will be this Monday for ADM Middle School and DeSoto Intermediate School. For the middle school, orientation will be split into two sessions. Students with last names starting with A through M will meet from 5:30-6:15 p.m., and those with N through Z from 6:30-7:15. Parents and students will report to their homeroom teacher’s classroom, where they will receive their Chromebooks and learn about the upcoming school year. After that, students can find their lockers and get familiar with their class schedules.

DeSoto Intermediate School students will also meet Monday in two sessions, with the 3rd grade open house running from 5-6:30 p.m., and 4th and 5th grades from 6-7:30. Parents and students will get information on units to be studied, classroom newsletters, lunchtimes, volunteer sign-ups, allergy policies, and schedules. Families can also talk with specials teachers, discuss transportation, and tour the building. Finally, Adel Elementary’s open house will be Tuesday from 5-6:30 p.m. Teachers will conduct formal presentations for parents, explaining their academic and behavioral expectations. Following the presentations, families will be free to tour the building and meet the teachers.

Students are encouraged to bring all their school supplies to their respective open house. Those that ordered supplies earlier in the summer will find them in their homeroom. Click the link below to see a full list of required supplies at ADM, and to learn more about the open houses.
