acgcIn just eleven days the ACGC football team will hit the gridiron in Guthrie Center for their first game of the season. On Friday, August 24th the Chargers will host the IKM-Manning Wolves to open their third year of football as a joint athletic program.

Though the Wolves defeated the Chargers last season in Manning 44-0, they were one of only two opponents the Chargers will face in 2018 to have winning records in 2017. The other is defending Class 1A State Champion Van Meter who went undefeated. The other six opponents had a combined record of 14-49.

Mount Ayr, Panorama, and West Central Valley all posted 3-6 records, while Clarinda and Tri-Center tallied a record of 2-7 in 2017. The wolverines of Nodaway Valley collected just one win last season and Woodward Academy was unable to notch one in the winners column, seeing nine losses in 2017.

The gold and black have played three of their eight opponents twice: IKM-Manning, Tri-Center, and West Central Valley. The Chargers are 0-6 in those contests. As we get closer to opening night, the Raccoon Valley Radio network will have all the insight. Listen to tonight’s Guthrie County PM Sports Page for comments from the ACGC players and coaching staff. The Guthrie County PM Sports Page begins at 6pm only on True Country K107.9 and the KKRF mobile app.
