driverslicenseThe Guthrie County Treasurer’s Office is currently seeing a high-volume year in terms of issuing driver’s licenses. During the 2017 fiscal year, the office issued 2,544 licenses, compared to 3,288 in the most recent fiscal year ending June 30th of this year, an increase of 744 licenses.

County Treasurer Marci Schreck says it’s common for the office to have fluctuating numbers in a given year. She’s hoping it will smooth out over time with a new system the State has come up with for issuing the licenses at different times. “The Department of Transportation is trying to get people transitioned from a five-eight year license. So if you’re between the ages of 18 and 74, the system will pick whether you get a five, six, seven, or eight-year license to try to get them spread out so not everyone renews at the same time.”
