A Lytton man was recently sentenced in Greene County District Court for a November 2017 incident.

According to court documents, 29-year-old Cody James Schulte pled guilty to an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree theft. He had his two year prison sentence suspended and was placed on informal probation with the Greene County Sheriff’s office for two years.

The charge stems from an incident in November 2017. Schulte had stolen checks from victims of accounts that were previously closed and used those checks at a Casey’s General Store in Jefferson. The checks were used to purchase gas and other items inside the convenience store.

Court documents show that Schulte was originally charged with felonies for forgery and ongoing criminal conduct, but the charges were amended to the one aggravated misdemeanor. As per his plea agreement, Schulte was also ordered to pay over $1,000 in fines, surcharges, court costs, attorney fees and victim restitution.
