In addition to four members selected for this year’s West Central Activities Conference postseason awards, the West Central Valley baseball team also recognized four players with team honors for their contributions to the team. Wildcat head baseball coach Justin Keck joined the Guthrie County PM Sports Page Monday night to discuss all of his team’s postseason award winners and explained the four awards given out by the coaching staff at the end of the season. Keck told Raccoon Valley Radio that the team most valuable player award went to incoming senior Cole Arnburg, who hit .545 and stole a team-best 23 bases this summer. Freshman Drew Taylor was named the Wildcats’ top offensive player after leading the squad in all extra base hit categories including seven doubles, three triples, and five home runs. Incoming senior Carson Wadle is West Central Valley baseball’s top defensive player, and outgoing senior Billy Larsen is the Wildcats most improved player. The West Central Activities Conference coaches selected Arnburg to the All-Conference first team, Taylor to the second-team squad, and incoming sophomore Evan Taylor and outgoing senior Riley Algreen as honorable mention selections. The 2018 West Central Valley baseball season ended July 10 with a 12-15 overall record.
